We are looking for businesses to help us raise awareness and funds for Mitochondrial Disease! 

Dear Business Owners, 

We have the unique opportunity to give your company access to a fun, hope-filled weekend in Virginia Beach.  After years of floating together for our annual “Float for a Mito Cure” fundraising event, we have had to pivot to a new, creative event that will be socially distant and safer right now.  You are invited to be a part of “camp: HOPE FULL” from March 18-20, 2022 — an event that can increase the visibility of business, as well as help save lives around the world.

I am writing to you today on behalf of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Mitochondrial Research Clinic to ask for your partnership for the 2022  “camp: HOPE FULL” Fundraising Event.  Our camping weekend will take place at Holiday TRAV-L Campground in Virginia Beach, VA  on March 18-20, 2022.   

My daughter, Lorelei (who passed away in July 2021 at five years old) and my son, Benjamin (who is two years old) were diagnosed with FBXL4 Mitochondrial Disease.  This is an incurable, progressive, life threatening form of mito that was discovered in 2013.  There are approximately 100 documented people worldwide who have had or who are battling this disorder caused by a mutation on the FBXL4 gene. Dr. Marni Falk of CHOP discovered this disease and continues to conduct research at her lab for my childrens’ specific type of Mito.  Our goal is to raise funds for this lab to help Dr. Falk and her team continue their research to find a treatment and cure for Benji, as well as so many others affected around the world. While Lorelei and Benjamin’s form of Mito is rare, Mitochondrial Disease affects 1 in every 4,000 children.  Additionally, science is linking mitochondrial dysfunction to so many other terrible diseases.  Raising money for Mitochondrial Disease research does not only impact those directly affected, but may also aid in research to help families who are fighting diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Diabetes and even Autism. 

The Mitochondrial-Genetic Disease Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is one of the top research centers in the nation for mitochondrial related diseases.  We firmly believe that focusing our fundraising efforts specifically for Dr. Falk’s lab at CHOP’s Mitochondrial-Genetic Clinic is not only in the best interest of our family’s future, but also for all children and adults battling Mitochondrial Disease.

What is camp: HOPE FULL?

WHEN: March 18-20, 2022 for those who are camping all weekend.  The main event is on Saturday March 19 though for those who are not going to stay onsite.

WHERE: Holiday TRAV-L Campground in Virginia Beach, VA.

WHO: You, and you, and you and you!  Everyone! RV’ers, campers, and those who want to stay in cabins. (Again, day passes are available for those who want to come for SATURDAY ONLY if camping isn’t your jam!)

PLATINUM SPONSORSHIP OPTIONS

  • Platinum Sponsors are businesses who want to sponsor a specific activity or meal during our weekend fundraiser.  These opportunities are limited but provide the most visibility for your company. 
  • Details of each Platinum sponsorship opportunity is listed below but also includes: Pre-event placement in event newsletter, Logo will also be placed on the ticket order form and social media  During-event your company name/ logo placement at event on banners that will remain up all weekend, items you provide included in check-in bags (this can include business cards, flyers, coupons, promo items, etc). Post-event we will have follow up social media posts with photos of your employees who volunteered/attended the event, linking to your business. Additionally, 2 extra social media or email presence posts are included for platinum sponsors.

  • The Scavenger Hunt will be printed and given to guests when they check into the campground in their welcome packet.  When they complete the scavenger hunt and turn it in, they will receive a prize.  (Camp Flashlights).  
  • Sponsor will have business name and logo printed on family scavenger hunt in addition to gift tag/logo attached to the flashlight.

  • Friday Night we will be playing Trolls on the movie screen. 
  • Sponsorship includes advertising before and after movie (business can send someone to speak/share message or Susan can speak on their behalf)

  • Popcorn and soda available for guests
  • Includes THREE Day Tickets for volunteers

  • Saturday Rock Painting for all ages 
  • Sponsorship includes advertising at painting location (feel free to bring brochures, giveaways, etc)  
  • Sponsoring Business sends volunteers to man the table
  • Sponsoring helps cover costs of supplies
  • Includes TWO Day Tickets for volunteers

  • Saturday morning Tie Dye for all ages
